October and November were all about Indigenous People of North Carolina! 4th graders dove into indigenous folktales to review literacy skills like theme, analyzing characters, contrasting texts, and more. We read some wonderful stories! We also polished our nonfiction skills by researching North Carolina tribes! Each student became an expert on one tribe and designed a museum exhibit to teach others all about it. We had so much fun! To finish our project, each student built a 3D model of their tribe's shelter. From wigwams to hogans, our engineers built some impressive structures! This STEM challenge asked them to think creatively and follow the Engineering Design Process. You can see all the pictures of our fun at this link! Thank you for your support in our learning!

Happy Friday, 4th grade families! Ms. Dula and I are so proud of everyone's hard work this week! Our first week of hybrid learning was such a success. Students did a wonderful job navigating all the changes to our learning environment. Masks, distancing, lunch in the classroom, and LOTS of hand washing are all new aspects of our school day. We also learned new routines, like Zooming with the other half of our class! We got to see so many smiles on camera and in person each day. Technology can be a beautiful thing! All of our 4th graders were able to receive new, LIVE instruction 5 days this week. Yay!! One thing that never changes, however, is the excitement of seeing friends and spending time with our 4th grade family. Enjoy a few pictures from our time together this week! Wishing you a relaxing weekend, everybody! See you next week! I wish you a wonderful summer of sunshine and adventures! I can't wait to see your smiling faces next fall. Come visit me! :-) -Ms. Reese
